• Navy Seaman Carter Sluyter, who is from Graham, serves aboard the USS John C. Stennis aircraft carrier. His duties with the Nimitz-class ship that’s homeported at Naval Base Bremerton includes maintenance on equipment, including on the flight deck.

The Stennis recently was undergoing scheduled maintenance at the naval installation in Kitsap County.
• Students who earned dean's list recognition at George Fox University for the fall semester include four from south Pierce County.
David Bacher, a freshman majoring in engineering, and Kyla Ewing, a junior and psychology major, are from Eatonville. And from Graham, Caleb Burns is a sophomore majoring in sociology and Ethan Miller, a junior, has management as his major.
George Fox, located in Newberg, Ore., requires a 3.5 grade point average or above to make the dean's list.
• Katherine Scherer, a senior from Eatonville, has been named to the latest Dean's List at Bethel University in St. Paul, Minn. The list honors students among Bethel's 5,500-plus enrollment who achieve a grade point average of 3.6 or greater during a semester.
Scherer is the daughter of Joe and Kathy Scherer.
