One of Pacific Lutheran University’s signature football victories in recent seasons got a big assist from a former Eatonville High School student-athlete.
Brandon Tipton, a senior defensive lineman for the Lutes, starred on defense with six tackles, including a quarterback sack, as PLU upset Univesity of Redlands 28-14 Sept.15 in California. Redlands entered the game ranked 25th nationally in the NCAA Division III poll.
Also on PLU’s roster this season are two other Eatonville products – linebacker Matt Van Eaton, who was credited with a tackle against Redlands, and offensive lineman Michael Wells.
The Lutes are 2-2 after beating Lewis and Clark 31-14 in a Northwest Conference contest last Saturday.
