Three high school students from the Bethel School District wlll get some real-world work experience from Boeing this summer.
Britney Spencer Freer from Bethel High School and Spanaway Lake High classmates Sean Kim and Nicholas Splinter were selected for paid internships with the company. They went through a competitive process at their schools before being nominated by the district’s career and technical education program.
The students will receive training at Boeing’s Auburn plant and then will be assigned to the Frederickson plant for their final internship. Each one will be assigned to a Boeing mentor throughout the process.
Bethel is one of five school districts statewide that were selected by Boeing to participate in its high school internship pilot program this summer. Each district was allocated three internships for a combination of classroom and hands-on training in a laboratory environment. The interns will also perform light to medium physical work in a factory environment.
