The body of a worker who died after a silo at Wlcox Family Farms in Roy collapsed Monday, burying him under tons of corn, has been recovered.
The body of Steven Green, 44, was removed late Wednesday night after rescuers and workers spent two days stabilizing the ruptured structure.
An investigation by authorities of what caused the accident is continuing.
One other employee of Wilcox was with Green when the silo collapsed but escaped unhurt.
Brent Wilcox, chief executive officer of Wilcox Family Farms, expressed “our condolences” to the family of Green, who was a former Marine.
A South Pierce Fire and Rescue crew of firefighters carried the body of Green, draped in an American flag in recognition of his status as a military veteran, from the accident scene at about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.
