A search for an overdue hiker ended on a positive note today with the individual walking out after spending an unplanned night in the back country of Mount Rainier National Park.
The 68-year old man from Everett set out on a day hike in the Kautz Creek area on Tuesday. He was reported as overdue by his wife late that night when he didn’t return home as planned. He emerged safely from the wilderness Wednesday as authorities were preparing a more intensive search, according to a park spokeswoman.
