The buses for Bethel School District will have a new home when construction is finished next year on a $19.4 million central transportation center and kitchen. Construction is underway for the facility at 5625 192nd St. E. that is scheduled to open in September 2014. District officials say the new facility will also be an improvement over the existing transportation center next to Bethel High School, which isn’t large enough to accommodate all of the district’s buses. The new location will have more space and be in more centralized for dispatching vehicles. Officials note that the district currently doesn’t have a central kitchen, and that having one will be more cost-effective and help with staffing.
