Krestin Bahr is leaving a position with Tacoma School District to become superintendent of Eatonville School District.

The Eatonville School District’s next superintendent will be Krestin Bahr, a Tacoma School District administrator.
Bahr, who lives in the Eatonville district, was chosen Wednesday by the School Board to replace Rich Stewart, who will retire in June at the end of the current school year. Bahr is expected to begin her new duties July 1.
Board president Bob Homan said final details of a contract with Bahr will be negotiated next Tuesday.
The board, meeting privately Wednesday night for the final decision, made Bahr – who heads secondary education for middle schools in the Tacoma district – its unanimous choice at the end a selection process that began in March with 20 applicants and was narrowed to three finalists. The other finalists were Chris Fritsch, assistant superintendent of Longview School District, and Shannon Webster, assistant superintendent of Hoquiam School District.

Each finalist spent a day in the district last week visiting each school and meeting with staff members. The candidates also met with the district’s transportation and maintenance workers before finishing their day with a community forum. District personnel and people attending the forums submitted written comments about the candidates.
Bahr is the first woman to be superintendent of the Eatonville district.
