The lowland lakes trout-fishing season in Washington gets under way this Saturday, with hundreds of thousands of anglers expected to descend on trout-stocked lakes for opening day – the state’s biggest outdoor event.
Hatchery crews from the state Department of Fish and Wildlife have been working since last year to stock more than 17 million fish in more than 600 lakes. Information on the lakes is available at http://wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/plants/statewide/.
For most people, a valid 2013-14 fishing license is required, as 2012-13 licenses expiered March 31. The exception is children under age 15, who can fish for free.
Licenses and permits are avaiIable https://fishhunt.dfw.wa.gov/, sporting goods stores and other vendors.
