Eatonville High School track and field coaches voiced satisfaction with their teams’ seventh-place finish in the boys’ competition and 16th-place on the girls’ side in the 35-team Tacoma Invitational last Saturday.
The Cruisers “competed well” in the meet staged at Lincoln High School’s Lincoln Bowl, said coach George Fairhart.
Top performances by Eatonville included Lucas Hatton finishing second in the shot put with a throw of 51 feet 2 inches and third in the discus at 142 feet. Teammate Justin Kaelin finished fourth in both of those events with efforts of 48-4 and 141-6, respectively.
Zach Fairhart finished third in the javelin at 150-5, Logan Moose was fourth in the high jump at 5-8, and Joe Evans finished eighth in the long jump at 18-11.
Among Eatonvlle’s girls, top-eight finishers included Emma Vuksich (sixth in the freshman/sophore 1,600 at 5:53.94), Daisey Newman (second in the javelin with a throw of 101-7 and fifth in the shot put at 33-10), and Rhoda Boetcher, who set a new school record in the 3,200 at 12:06.
